# Arcrawls

Arcrawls is an open-source, context-aware browser mascot built using Chrome's Gemini Nano and ONNX Runtime for 100% local, offline AI.

> Arcrawls reads the sentiment of the current page and reacts with animations and interactions, bringing the nostalgia of 90s desktop pets to the modern web without sending any data to the cloud.

## Localization
- UI and pet speech bubbles ship in **10 languages**: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, Hindi
- Default: follows the browser UI language
- Optional override: Options → Interface Language (including Auto)
- Covers dashboard, popup, onboarding, and speech bubbles — not the web pages the user browses

## Install Size (v2.0.9+)
- Chrome Web Store download: ~6 MB compressed
- Chrome extension details (unpacked): ~22–25 MB (pet assets + bundled ONNX asyncify WASM)
- Lite Mode (default): Regex-based context, no network downloads, Brain Upgrade off
- Optional Brain Upgrade: initializes bundled WASM + one-time ~67 MB DistilBERT download from Hugging Face
- Older builds showed ~28 MB on the store due to four redundant WASM binaries; current builds ship one backend only
